Hayley Geoghegan | NYC NY
At 16, Hayley Geoghegan volunteers with City Harvest, helping pack food that is distributed to soup kitchens and food pantries throughout New York City. What began as her own volunteer service grew when she encouraged friends and members of her family to join her. Her grandmother now volunteers alongside her, turning service into something they share across generations. City Harvest expected to redirect approximately 90 million pounds of food from landfills to food pantries and soup kitchens during the year, and Hayley is one of the volunteers helping make that enormous effort possible.
Why This Hidden Warrior Was Nominated
Hayley did more than volunteer. She encouraged other people to serve with her, multiplying the impact of one person's decision to help.
